Greetings from the nesting boxes! This is the very noisy and demanding Lavender. Lavender recently starting doing a very bizarre squatting, wing-raising maneuver every time I approached her. In my mind, I thought "what have I done to make my sweet little chicken fear me???". In Lavender's mind, she was thinking "Oh hell! Here comes the rooster!". My interweb research tells me that the squatting stance is a sign of maturity in female chickens and, weird chicken behavior aside, the importance of Lavender playing peek-a-boo in the nesting boxes is...
